calls to action

Indigenous women and girls deserve safety, justice, and respect.

Implementing the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples:

The National Inquiry called for the implementation of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, which sets out minimum standards for the survival, dignity, and well-being of Indigenous peoples.

Addressing the root causes of violence:

The National Inquiry called for action to address the root causes of violence against Indigenous women and girls, including poverty, racism, and colonialism. This includes improving access to education, employment, and housing, as well as addressing the ongoing impacts of residential schools.

Supporting Indigenous-led initiatives:

The National Inquiry called for greater support for Indigenous-led initiatives working to address the MMIWG crisis. This includes supporting the establishment of Indigenous-led healing and wellness centers, providing funding for community-led initiatives, and supporting the implementation of the calls to justice.

MAY 5th, 2023
@11:00am

We need to stand together and walk with us on May 5th from the Band Office to Urban reserve to show our support and solidarity with Indigenous communities impacted by the MMIWG crisis. By walking together, we can raise awareness of the issue and honor the lives of the Indigenous women and girls who have been lost. We can also send a message to decision-makers that action is needed to address the root causes of violence and ensure that Indigenous women and girls are safe and valued in our society. It is only through working together as a community that we can create the meaningful change that is needed to address the MMIWG crisis and create a better future for all. So let us stand together, walk together, and work together to honor the lives of Indigenous women and girls and create a better future for all.
